Career Progression

1982
Tom graduated from Tri-State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and began his career at EAB as a Field Technician.
1991-2016
Spanning 25 years, one of Tom’ most significant projects was the new construction of the UT Southwestern Medical Center North Campus. His roles included Lead Technician, Project Manager, and Senior Project Manager. Totaling over one million square feet, the UT Southwestern Medical Center is the largest medical school in the state of Texas. These buildings were significant in that they encompass almost every type of HVAC system and control sequence available in our industry. The quality of construction set the standard for all other new and existing remodel projects on this campus.
1991-2018
EAB has had a long-standing relationship with Children’s Medical Center Dallas. Tom’ leadership and management of this client’s projects maintained a strong relationship and delivered an optimum operating facility. Over the course of 27 years, 3 new bed towers were constructed, and the facility underwent over 200 renovation projects. The renovations included multiple upgrades and expansions to the thermal energy plant, operating rooms, emergency room, imaging rooms, laboratories, pharmacies, plus an entire campus upgrade from pneumatic to DDC controls. All construction was performed in a fully functioning hospital.
1993
Tom became licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Texas and was certified as a Test & Balance Engineer (TBE) by the Associated Air Balance Council (AABC).
1998-2006
Tom served as the Dallas Branch Training Manager.
2004-2020
Tom served as the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager overseeing the University of Texas at Dallas projects. The scope of work included the test and balance of twelve new classroom buildings, the addition of administrative and laboratory research buildings, seven new dormitories and the renovation of three existing science buildings.
Present
Tom was fortunate to retire after a long and successful career at EAB. He continues to serve as an instructor on our EAB Training Team, impacting the future minds of the industry.

Which of these core values (Integrity, Quality, Consistency and Teamwork) do you most identify with, and what does it mean to you?

To me, EAB’s core values of Integrity, Quality, Consistency, and Teamwork are our identity. While each one of these values are an admiral trait, individually they do not tell the whole story. Together, these values set the path for us all to follow in our personal and professional lives.

What is your ideal room temperature, and why?

My ideal temperature varies depending on my level of activity. When I’m at home, I prefer 72°F during the winter, and 75°F in the summer. In an office environment, 72-74°F is my ideal. Outdoors without a wind, I enjoy 30-110°F; you can always add or subtract clothing. With the wind, below 50°F is not so fun!

What is your absolute favorite thing about working for EAB?

After 38 years, I can honestly say, I’ve had it pretty good. The work we do has the ability to positively affect the lives of others. I am part of something that is bigger than myself, and I’ve enjoyed mentoring others to carry on the “EAB WAY”.
