Career Progression

2014
Shortly after meeting Justin Garner, EAB Vice President, at a career fair at Texas Tech University and upon his graduation with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree, Tate began his career at Engineered Air Balance as a Commissioning Specialist.
2014
Due to EAB’s success of the MD Anderson project in 2009 and 2010, EAB was awarded the full MD Anderson Zayed Building Total Building Commissioning scope. This is the first project Tate worked on when he got hired, and one of the largest commissioning projects EAB had at the time.
2014 - 2017
As a Commissioning Specialist on the Phillips 66 project, Tate worked closely with Josh Barnhart, EAB Commissioning Manager, to schedule activities between all parties involved to move this project to completion. This project is particularly notable because it is the largest commissioning project EAB has worked on to date.
2015
In 2015, Tate was certified as a Test and Balance Technician by the Associated Air Balance Council (AABC).
2017
In 2017, Tate became a Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA) through the AABC Commissioning Group (ACG).
2018
In 2018, Tate transitioned into a Commissioning Coordinator role. As one of his first projects in his new role, he was honored to lead and coordinate the UTMB League City Hospital’s Bed Tower expansion.
Present
In 2022, Tate transitioned into a Project Manager role and oversees Healthcare, K-12 and University projects in the Houston market. He is responsible for business development, technical management, and client relations with our valued Healthcare, K-12 and University partners in the Houston market.

Which of these core values (Integrity, Quality, Consistency and Teamwork) do you most identify with, and what does it mean to you?

Integrity. To me, integrity means: doing the right thing even when no one is looking. In the field it’s crucial to be honest and provide the client with a quality product. We never leave a project until an optimum operating facility is delivered.

What is your absolute favorite thing about working for EAB?

Two thoughts come to mind: 1). The EAB team and the comradery we share on and off the field, and 2). EAB’s leadership in how they care for their employees and our families. I’m lucky to be a part of a team that works towards the same goal and is willing to help each other in the process; and I’m proud to work for a company that truly takes care of their employees and makes sure they have everything they need to provide for their family.

What did you want to be when you were little?

A pilot because flying is awesome! It’s crazy to think about that only 150 years ago, you couldn’t fly.
